One of the most convenient airports in the world.

The drive into Patong or Phuket Town will take about 30 minutes if driven at a reasonable speed.  To the Laguna Resorts and Bang Tao Beach/Surin areas will be about 15-25 minutes.

Metered taxis ("taxi-meters") park outside the airport, but have a kiosk right out the arrivals doors and to the right - down towards the end of the sidewalk (about 50 meters). 

 Transport to the major cities will cost in the area of B500+. To the Laguna Resorts area, NorthEast Phuket and Mai Khao Beach areas will cost less.  Tipping is usually the small change that is left over, or around 10%, whatever you prefer. 

Negotiated rate taxis - the hustlers who solicit you as you leave the arrivals area - will cost about 20% more than the metered taxis.  These are often nicer and roomier cars though and they can also arrange a larger vehicle on short notice for families are larger groups.
